Council,Udupi came into existence in 1935 and was converted into City
Municipal Council in the year 1995.Udupi city
is district headquarter for the
district of same name.Udupi is new district formed
separated from Dakshina Kannada district in 1997.Udupi consist
of 1,13,039 population according to the 2001 census has 68.23
Sq.K.M. area
for it's municipal limit. The well-established main office of Municipality is
situated in K.M.Marg at the heart of the city.
ಡಳಿತೆಗೆ 1935 ರಿಂದ
ಪುರಸಭೆಯ ರಚನೆಯ ಘೋಷಣೆಯನ್ನು ಪ್ರಕಟಿಸಿತು. ಉಡುಪಿ
ನಗರಾ1995ರಲ್ಲಿ ನಗರಸಭೆಯಾಗಿ
ಪರಿವರ್ತಿಸಿತು. 1997ರಲ್ಲಿ ಉಡುಪಿಯನ್ನು ದಕ್ಷಿಣ ಕನ್ನಡ ಜಿಲ್ಲೆಯಿಂದ
ಬೇರ್ಪಡಿಸಿ, ಹೊಸ ಜಿಲ್ಲೆಯನ್ನಾಗಿ ಘೋಷಿಸಲಾಯಿತು. 2001 ಜನಗಣತಿ ಪ್ರಕಾರ
1,13,039 ಜನಸಂಖ್ಯೆಯನ್ನು ಹೊಂದಿದೆ. ನಗರಸಭೆಯ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ಷೇತ್ರವು 68.23
ಚ.ಕಿ.ಮೀ ವಿಸ್ತೀರ್ಣವನ್ನು ಹೊಂದಿದೆ.ಉಡುಪಿ
ನಗರಸಭೆ ಕಾರ್ಯಲಯವು ನಗರದ ಹೃದಯ ಭಾಗದಲ್ಲಿ ಇದೆ.
